Tommy Johnson is one of the most entertaining musicians working today. He’s a self-taught piano player who started playing at the age of 4. By 7, he made his professional debut, performing the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto.

By 9, he was featured in Life magazine after winning a competition program on the very first television program aired in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Despite his classical beginnings, his true passion is boogie woogie, which is why Tommy is known as the original Boogie Man.

Now 71, Tommy is still charming audiences everywhere and he says he’s playing better than ever. Plus, he’s found a new way to connect with fans — his videos have been viewed more than 5 million times on YouTube!

Tommy explains living in the technology age and what it’s like to hear from fans — of all ages — from across the world.

Plus, find out why he thinks performing is what he was supposed to do in life and how the music “just comes out,” even though he’s never taken formal lessons.
