Think muscle cars are just for meatheads or teenagers? Wait until you meet Virgil Coffman.

He’s owned about 40 cars over his lifetime, which never made much news. But last year, when he walked into a Chevy dealership in Illinois and plunked down $38,000 — cash — for a special edition 426-horsepower bright yellow Camero, people took notice.

Maybe that’s because he was 101 years old at the time.

Now 102, Virgil is the oldest known new-car buyer. He says at first, the car salesmen weren’t so sure what to make of him. But once they realized he was serious, they put him behind the wheel of his new Transformer-edition Camero.

Virigil tells us why he not only wanted a new car, but that car in particular. His new wheels have even made him a celebrity. He says nearly every day, someone wants to take a picture with him and his car and General Motors even flew him to Detroit for a special tour.

Plus, he’s not done dreaming about cars yet. He reveals his next dream car.
