Vicki Robin is a self-proclaimed tightwad with her money and a yo-yo dieter with her food.

She also happens to be a renowned innovator, speaker and writer. She is the author of the best-selling book, “Your Money or Your Life.” Money is, without a doubt, one of her favorite topics, but something else moved front-and-center when someone issued her a special challenge.

She became fascinated by the concept of sustainable living, which led to her new book, “Blessing the Hands that Feed Us: What Eating Closer to Home Can Teach Us About Food, Community and Our Place on Earth.”

Vicki explains how this project originated from an idea she and her friend had to follow documentarian Morgan Spurlock’s 30 days experiments. Their idea was to try and feed themselves by only living off the food they could find within a 10-mile circle.

Find out how the experiment changed her relationship with food, her cooking and gardening habits and her food ethics.

She offers tips for setting your own small goals, whether it’s one day, one week or one month, to help open your eyes to how our current food system works.
