The Ride of Their Lives

Larry Smith never set out to be an inspiration, but as Parkinson’s disease continued to steal control of his body, Larry’s resolve kept getting stronger.

It’s why he set off on a quest to ride his recumbent bike across the state of South Dakota. He challenged anyone with a disability to join him.

Word of his mission spread quickly, even catching the attention of a film crew, who documented the trip in an eye-opening and award-winning film called Ride With Larry.

John Alexandar heard about Larry’s story and it gave him hope about the road ahead. John was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2010 and in Larry, he sees what may be possible.

Find out what compelled John to travel thousands of miles to join Larry on his ride and how the experience has helped John hang onto his independence and to start seeing his Parkinson’s as a blessing.
