Never one to rest on her past glories, three-time Olympian Susan Von Der Lippe will take on the country’s top swimmers at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials next summer.

And when she hits the pool, she will be 43 years old.

Susan qualified for the trials with a 1:12.49 time in the 100-meter breaststroke. Her time was 0.1 seconds under the qualifying standard.

As if that wasn’t impressive enough, it was only slightly slower than her time in the same event during the 1984 Olympics (Back then, she was known as Susan Rapp).

Susan talked to Growing Bolder about what motivates her to keep going, despite already having a silver and gold medal, and how she’ll stay on top of her game before next summer’s trials.
