Never Too Late to Change Lives

In

Manette Monroe is a woman who loves new challenges, especially when it’s something that someone tells her she can’t do. She started her career as a teacher but felt there was something more she wanted to do. So, in her 40s, she decided to go to medical school, even though she was told “they don’t let old people into med school.”

Not only did she make it in, after finishing her training, she found herself on staff at one of the nation’s fastest growing and most cutting-edge medical schools, the University of Central Florida College of Medicine.

Dr. Monroe wasn’t done pushing the boundaries yet. A lifelong equestrian, she knew there had to be a way to combine her love of horses with teaching. She launched the nation’s first evidence-based study to investigate the results of veterans suffering from PTSD and traumatic brain injuries working with horses.

In just its beginning stages, wait until you see the results her equine therapy is having on these soldiers’ lives. They share the life-changing experience, and Dr. Monroe explains why it’s never too late for you to tap into your true passions to make meaningful changes in your life and in the world.
