Phyllis Rogers, the author of “Over 40 and Gettin’ Stronger,” says from the age of 30 on, we lose a half a pound of muscle a year. That means, if you’re 50, you’ve already lost 10 pounds of muscle unless they have worked to keep it. 

She’s says the biggest obstacle in keeping people fit is the idea that it’s going to hard or intimidating. But she says you don’t have to train like Arnold Schwarzenegger to reap the benefits of strength training.
