In 1967, Mark Volman and his group the Turtles scored a major hit with the song “Happy Together.” But a contract dispute prevented him from using his name and the Turtles name, so along with partner Howard Kaylan they became Flo and Eddie. They played with Frank Zappa and did backing vocals for Bruce Springsteen.

At the age of 45, Volman went back to college. He graduated magna cum laude in 1997 from Loyola Marymount, where he was valedictorian. He went on to get a masters degree and these days, Professor Flo teaches courses about the music business when he’s not doing shows.

Find out what hard-learned lessons he teaches up and coming musicians.
