John Land is the mayor of a growing city. He’s a civic CEO, using the latest technology to manage city business. He’s also about to turn 89 and is the second-longest serving mayor in U.S. history. He’s traveled a long way but is just a few feet from where it all began.
Editor’s Note: In December 2009, Land announced his plans to run for a 19th term as mayor of Apopka, Florida. If he wins the election, he will be 93 years old at the end of his term. Land tells the media that he has checked with his doctors, who have deemed him healthy to run and serve.
