The maker movement is a celebration of people with incredible talents, who design, build, invent, tinker and create products in a world where so much is mass produced.

We’ve done stories on people like Larry Roofner, a guy who walked away from a cushy corporate job to pursue his passion of: creating one-of-a-kind high-end wooden doors and rocking chairs.

We’ve shown you how a group of dedicated artisans make the holidays brighter for families in need, by using their skills to craft toys for children.

And we’ve taken you inside the studio of Elizabeth St. Hilaire, and watched this mixed media collage artist use torn up strips of paper to transform snapshots of ordinary life into extraordinary works on canvas.

Now, a program called Handcrafted America is celebrating the creations of artisans from across the country and shining the spotlight on these talented people. We spoke with host Jill Wagner about the inspirational program and why she’s so passionate about sharing these stories.
