5 Questions: Troy McGuire, 18
We say that Growing Bolder is about believing in yourself and dreaming big — despite the risks. Troy McGuire has done both with the launch of a new business: Mojo Brands Media. For years, McGuire been behind the success of “The Daily Buzz,” a national news and entertainment program produced on the campus of Central Florida’s Full Sail University. McGuire and his Mojo partners recently not only acquired “The Daily Buzz” but launched several new national programs including “Emotional Mojo,” “Heart and Soul” and “Al Dia,” a Spanish-language show. Mojo, which is also a production/distribution partner of Growing Bolder TV, is helping shape creative partnerships that integrate digital, social media and brand sponsorship.
With a new business, new television shows and new expectations, McGuire knows that he will face some challenges, but he also realizes that an important part of Growing Bolder is opening up to opportunities. We asked McGuire to share some of the things he’s learned and a few sneak peeks for what’s next in our “5 Questions.” These are two bonus questions.
In terms of distributing your product, the Internet presents more opportunities than ever but there are also more programs than ever. How do you see Internet delivery affecting the future of content programming?
It’s obviously the future but like we’ve discussed, “Content is King.” If you people like your content, they will find it. No matter how it’s delivered or what device it is on. The harder part is how the advertising community reacts to the changes and willing to buy ads on the multiple platforms.
What are you most optimistic about in terms of your future — what has you getting out of bed every morning excited to greet the day?
Being able to control my own destiny with content that inspires people. I’ve spent a lot of my life in a newsroom and although it was exciting, some of the stories can really take a toll on you personally. But it also taught me on where I wanted to go next and the impact I could possible make with content that makes people think, laugh and love.
