Out of all types of cancer, childhood cancers account for less than 1 percent, but that still means every year, more than 10,000 children and their families will hear that frightening diagnosis. Each has quite a story to tell, and that’s especially true of a young man named Benji Watson.
It’s hard to say that cancer is ever a good thing but time after time, people say in many ways, it’s actually a blessing in disguise. That was certainly the case for a young boy, whose cancer discovery led to the discovery of a life-threatening heart condition.
At the age of 14, Benji Watson was diagnosed with cancer. Even while he was still fighting cancer himself, he made a vow that when he got healthy, he’d return to the hospital to make a difference. And that’s exactly what’s he done.
