Looks like we'll be seeing a lot of Michael Phelps and Dara Torres in all kinds of commercials.
Olympic champions are like gold when it comes to endorsements. Remember Bob Richards?
He pole vaulted his way into our hearts, winning bronze in the 1948 Olympics and gold in 1952 and 1956.
In 1958, he became the first athlete to appear on the front of a Wheaties box.
In fact, he was a spokesman for Wheaties for 13 years. He set up the Wheaties Sports Foundation which encouraged youngsters to train, dream and participate in the Olympic games.
His endorsement opened the floodgates of opportunity for athletes, olympic and otherwise, to cash in on their hard work and good fortune.
Here's Richards in a Wheaties commericial from the 1960s.
