Posted 12:03 pm February 24th, 2008Mae is not only an inspiration but a dream come true. This has to be the most dynamite story I have ever heard.
I was an extra in a movie when I was in College. I walked into the Brooklyn Courthouse to view a trial for my criminology class. I was dressed in jeans with patches and a denim jacket. Seconds later, a man, who turned out to be the Director of "The Marcus Nelson Murders" (with Telly Savales and Marjoe Gortner approached me and asked me if I wanted to be in a movie. I replied, I have to witness a trial for school and he replied, "you can do that anytime." I spent the entire day with the movie celebrities and when the check came for $92.00 I thought that this was my big break which would have been a dream come true. Unfortunately, it is a glorious memory but my dream never materialized. I became a Special Ed Teacher and worked for the airline industry for most of my life. I am 56 now and I think, had I the opportunity to travel on the road with the Rock and Roll stars I would have been the happiest girl alive. Like the Grateful Dead's song, "Keep On Truckin" that is the positive attitude I take now. Seniors have the wisdom, experience, knowledge, attitude, personality and beauty that we should all honor and respect.
God Bless You Mae and thank you for sharing this story. It made my day.
