Innovator of "Flute Rock" Still Rocks

For nearly 40 years, Ian Anderson and his group Jethro Tull have been playing sold-out concerts around the world, and at the age of 60, Ian has no plans of slowing down. The man who introduced the flute to rock music told the Growing Bolder Radio Show that he's totally self-taught, which spawned his free-style way of playing the wind instrument. Take a few moments to get to know the voice behind rock classics like "Aqualung" and "Bungle in the Jungle." He's unlike any other rock legend.

Remember when flying was fun? The jet age is born when 111 excited passengers board a National Airlines Boeing 707 in New York City and fly to Miami in the first domestic passenger jet flight.

American oil tycoon Armand Hammer shells out more than $5 million for Leonardo da Vinci's notebook, which features 300 notes about water and how it moves. Decode this mystery -- just 14 years later, another tycoon buys it for $30 million. Bill Gates now loans it out to museums for public display.

Ol' Blue Eyes Frank Sinatra is born in Hoboken, New Jersey. After a hugely successful start in the music business, his career takes a downturn in his 30s when he damages his vocal chords. He finds success on the big screen but his on-stage magic will not return until later in life, when his songs become more popular than ever. He performs well into his 70s, until his failing health forces him to retire.
