This weekend, some of the best athletes in the world will be duking it out in Florida -- as part of the Florida Senior Games State Championships. It's going to be an incredible 9 days of competition, in events like basketball, cycling, swimming, tennis, and track and field. And if that's too intense for your tastes, there are also events for bowling, bocce, pickleball and table tennis (think Forrest Gump might be there?)

GrowingBolder.com member Nick Gandy is the Director of Communications at the Florida Sports Foundation. He's posted a blog here on the site, talking about his excitement leading up to the Games -- and I know he will have much more to say once the Games are complete. And his excitement is infectious! 2,000 athletes are competing, and each one has a unique and inspirational story, and a reason for pushing his or her body harder than the average American. Some of those athletes are also GrowingBolder.com members, and I hope some of them will share their stories after the Games wrap up.

Nick tells me the Games started back in 1992, with 712 athletes. So it's been an amazing few years of growth. From the sounds of things, it's just going to keep getting bigger and better every year.

I know Nick is happy to talk to anyone who wants to learn more about the Games, and if you are looking for a little inspiration to get moving … check out members hittin' with wood, Fred The Fitness Guy, Fred M, The TriGuy, or Cliff Eggink. They all have great stories to share. And you can find many more inspirational stories on our gbradio page.
