Think about the ways that hearing loss has impacted those around you.

As State Chapter Coordinator for the Hearing Loss Association of Florida, I'd like to give you a personal example:

"My hearing loss was detected when I was eight years old. Growing up in New Jersey in 1958, there was no Hearing Loss Association of America, so what was a parent to do?  My family happened to be blessed that in our hometown there was an organization called the Plainfield Hearing Society. They showed us where to find out about hearing aids and other services such as Lip Reading lessons which I took for many years as a child. This organization did so much to ease my family's burden and prepare me to be a more confident adult -- who, by the way, is doing things that even I would not expect from a profoundly deaf man like me.

Plainfield Hearing Society was merely a local entity, and I don't know if it still exists, but now, fifty years later, we in HLAA have expanded that same sort of support, education, and advocacy across nation and around the world."

As State Chapter Coordinator for the Hearing Loss Association of Florida, I recently addressed the Grand Kickoff Luncheon for the Florida 2008 Walk4Hearing, to be held on April 12, 2008 in Safety Harbor, FL. Why don't you join my team or form your own at work, or among family and friends? The more people the merrier, and the better for the Hearing Loss Association of America. Even if you are unable to walk with us, we need people like you on the team.

Believe me, participating in an event that raises awareness and acceptance of Hearing Loss will touch your life in some way.

The money we raise will go to HLAA at the national and local levels. We need your support, so please do anything you can, join my team, register as an individual or make a donation on my behalf.  Even better, form your own team at the office or in your neighborhood. Walk around the parking lot or around the block. Get out there and let people know WHY you are walking -- hearing loss is a normal part of our lives -- but we CAN do something about it.

By the way, I have also sponsored a Kilometer Marker in remembrance of the one who walked my life with me for 34 years. If you would like to remember someone or promote your business, check out the sponsorship opportunities section of the Walk4Hearing site.

Thank you so much for all of your support and while we would love to see you at the Florida Walk4Hearing event, it would be just as great to see your name on a team or sponsorship roster!

Believe me, participating in an event that raises awareness and acceptance of Hearing Loss will touch your life in some way.
Thanks so much!  Larry
