In 1935: A jury in Flemington, New Jersey finds Bruno Hauptmann guilty of the 1932 kidnapping and murder of the Lindbergh baby, the son of Charles Lindbergh.

In 1957: Cuban officials announce a ban on all Rock and Roll programs on TV, calling the music "offensive to public morals and good customs." They will soften their stance a couple of days later, but strict guidelines are put in place.

In 1961: Frank Sinatra launches his own record label and although he vows that he will never sign any rock artists, Reprise Records later becomes the home of Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, Randy Newman and The Beach Boys.

In 1972: It's time for a haircut for Led Zeppelin, which is forced to cancel a concert in Singapore when officials won't let the band members off the plane because of their long hair.

In 1997: The Dow Jones industrial average breaks through the 7,000 barrier for the first time, closing at 7,022.44.

In 2000: The last original "Peanuts" comic strip appears in newspapers one day after Charles M. Schulz dies. The comic strip was first published in 1950 and 17,897 strips were published in 2,600 newspapers.

In 2005: Ray Charles wins eight posthumous Grammy awards for his final album, "Genius Loves Company."
