Picture of the Day: Neuschwanstein Castle
The castle was built by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a homage to Richard Wagner. It was the inspiration for Cinderella's Castle in Walt Disney World and Sleeping Beauty's Castle in Disneyland. In an 1868 letter to Richard Wagner, Ludwig II wrote, " It is my intention to rebuild the old castle ruin at Hohenschwangau in the authentic style of the old German knights' castles. The location is the most beautiful one could find-- a worthy temple for the divine friend who brought salvation and true blessing to the world."
