Aug. 13, 1948 - Cleveland Indians pitcher Satchel, a 42-year old rookie, threw his first complete game in the major leagues. He allowed the Chicago White Sox only five hits in the 5-0 shutout. Incidentally, the rookie pitcher was 42 years old. Asked about his age, Satchel replied, "Age is a question of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter."
