She was born to medical missionaries in India; grew up around lepers and elephants; and on one of her many medical safaris with her parents, ran into Mahatma Gandhi himself. But it's been in her adult life that Gladys McGarey, M.D., has changed the world. For more than 60 years, she's been an innovator in the field of alternative medicine. In 2005, at the age of 84, she traveled to India and Afghanistan to start an international holistic medical program for developing third-world countries.
