Grammy Winner Forced to Delay New Tour
Posted February 12, 2008, 3:12 pm by Growing BolderDolly Parton has never had trouble laughing at herself -- because she ends up laughing all the way to the bank! But she just revealed that she has a back condition that's so serious, she's had to delay her plans for a musical tour of the United States. According to Parton's publicist, doctors have advised the entertainer to take six to eight weeks off, in order to recover.
Parton's new album "Backwoods Barbie" is due out on February 26th on Dolly Records. The tour was scheduled to start two days later in Minneapolis, Minn. Dolly apologized to her fans, and asked them to be patient until the dates are rescheduled.
She released this statement:
"I know I have been breaking my neck and bending over backwards trying to get my new Backwoods Barbie CD and world tour together, but I didn't mean to hurt myself doing it! But hey, you try wagging these puppies around a while and see if you don't have back problems. Seriously though, the doctors said I will be good as new in a few weeks, and I can't wait to get back out there. See you soon, Dolly."
It seems she hasn't lost her spirit!
Growing Bolder had the chance to find out what Dolly is really like. Watch this video of Dolly in the recording studio with Byrds founder Roger McGuinn. It's a very rare look behind the scenes as two legends get together and listen to Dolly sing a Byrds classic.
