As another World Series gets under way, it's time to take a moment to remember the men who paved the way for today's players. Originally tapped to be the first black player to break the color barrier, Monte Irvin instead decided to take some time to recover from his stint in the Army. But when he finally made the jump to the Major Leagues from the Negro League, he showed the world that talent is colorblind. The Hall of Famer talked to Growing Bolder about his historic career and how Jackie Robinson's style and grace helped all who followed.
