1967 was one of the most amazing times in U.S. history. The Monterey Pop Festival gave birth to the hippie movement. The Summer of Love brought it to national prominence. There was a new consciousness based on sex, drugs and awesome music. Joel Selvin, music critic for the San Francisco Chronicle, was there.
